This page contains some guitar-related information that you will find interesting, and also discusses a construction project with a ground-breaking guitar enhancement that lets you create your ultimate dream guitar.
One of the modifications will show you how to enhance your 3-pickup guitar so that it will produce 35 individual pickup sounds, and get 700 percent more pickup tones that can be produced (compared to a standard Stratocaster which normally produces 5 pickup tones).
The other modification will show you how to enhance your 2-pickup guitar (or bass) so that it will produce 6 individual pickup sounds, a 100 percent increase in the number of tones which can be produced (compared to a standard Telecaster which normally produces 3 pickup tones).
Each of these modifications will give you total control of your guitar sound because you can select and use all of the possible combinations of the following pickup connections:
This Patented Pickup Switching Harness lets you create the "ultimate guitar" that can reproduce the sound of virtually every electric guitar ever made. Now you can get 35 pickup tones from your 3-pickup instrument and 6 pickup tones from your 2-pickup instrument. It is physically impossible for you to get more than 35 pickup tones from a standard 3-pickup guitar. Because this Switching Method is so revolutionary, I was awarded a patent by the United States Patent Office.
As you know, almost all 3-pickup guitars use a 5-way switch to produce 5 separate pickup tones. However, this 5-way switch is an obstacle that severely limits the number of pickup tones that your 3-pickup guitar can actually produce. This Patented Pickup Switching System gives you access all 35 pickup tones (the maximum number of tones possible) out of your 3-pickup guitar. This simple modification will let you independently and selectively switch all three pickups on your guitar to be either on -or- off, in normal phase -or- reverse phase, in parallel, in series, or in any combination.
For years, a simple, low cost switching method to get all the possible guitar pickup tone combinations out of a 3-pickup guitar has been the “Holy Grail” of guitarist world-wide. The search is finally over!
WARNING: Now you can finally access the additional 30 pickup tones that have been silently hiding in your 3-pickup guitar. After you install this Patented Pickup Switching Method, you'll think that your guitar is on steroids!
You can use this simple "drop-in" modification to instantly increase the number of electric guitar pickup tones on your 3-pickup electric guitar by 700 percent. And for a 2-pickup guitar, bass, mandolin, pedal steel, or other instrument, this Patented Pickup Switching Harness gives you 6 pickup tones – a 100 percent increase in the number of pickup tones. Your 2-pickup instrument will have 20 percent more pickup tones than a standard 3-pickup Strat Style instrument – and you can also easily add another pickup at a future date to get 583 percent more pickup tones.
Now you can modify your 3-pickup guitar to get a huge "palette" of 35 pickup tones. Transform one guitar to play Rock, Country, Pop, R&B, Jazz, etc. Get big time wide sounds ranging from "muddy/dirty blues" -to- "heavy metal" - to- "British chime" -to- "American brilliant" -to- "Surf" plus many other unique twangy and "tin-canny" pickup tones.
After your modification, if you replace one pickup with another pickup that has different characteristics, such as a different magnet or coil winding impedance, you can create a completely different “palette” of 35 pickup tones. This gives you the ability to create an almost unlimited number of pickup tones. For the first time in history, you can now affordably create one single guitar that can sound like virtually every electric guitar ever made.
This switching method is completely passive so there are no batteries or expensive electronics to fail while recording or performing. If you already bring several guitars with you to perform or record because each has its own unique sound, why not create one guitar that can sound like them all? If you (or someone you know) can read simple wiring diagrams and schematics, use hand tools and can solder, this Patented Pickup Switching Method is definitely for you.
This revolutionary Patented Pickup Switching Method can be used in virtually every 3-pickup and 2-pickup electric guitar that uses coil-wound magnetic pickups, regardless of manufacturer.
I've been rated "Triple A+" by thousands of satisfied customers for over 14 years.
I've been a fan of guitarist Billy Mure for 40 years because his guitar ability had a deciding influence on my decision to seriously master the guitar. I first heard some of his work around 1960 and purchased three of his albums (Supersonic Guitars 1&2, and Fireworks), which I believe contain some of his best work. His "clean" and exciting mastery of the guitar inspired me to seriously learn and master the guitar. I think I wore all three records out playing along for hours at a time.
I went into the Navy in 1964 and spent four years being influenced by the Ventures. They gave me a reason to continue maintaining my proficiency. At one point, I used to practice about 5 hours a day (then played in a Country group two nites a week, and a Rock group a few other nights a week). I was "pretty good" at that time (cir. 1968).
Then I got out of the military service, and although I infrequently played in different groups, I got tired of dealing with all the "eye trouble" of band members, you know... I'm the greatest, I'm the most important, yada yada yada. So I decided to learn how to use computers... I basically went from one form of creativity to another.
Recently, I've decided that "working for a living" is not very rewarding so I decided to learn new skills to bridge to a different career - trading Commodity Futures - one which takes little time yet produces geometric income. My web site gives you FREE training (in case you're interested in learning more about this topic) located here.
I also plan on having more free time and have this "urge" to polish up my guitar proficiency. One of the things on my mind was to acquire all the Billy Mure and Ventures LPs I used to have (but stupidly lost track of) to play along with and force me to get better. When I used the vinyl albums, I had a Bogen variable-speed turntable. It was helpful because instead of having to re-tune my guitar for a different song, I would just slightly reduce or increase the turntable speed - tuning the song to my guitar.
The used vinyl albums are selling for premium price these days, and I don't think they make new ones anymore. I've recently noticed that a few companies are producing the original Ventures albums on CD in their entirety - something I'm thankful for. Frankly, all those "greatest hits" and "gold collections" CDs were disappointing because I'd get five copies of "Walk - don't run" from four CDs, three copies of Perfidia, etc. In addition, some of what I considered to be the better songs on a specific album never made it to any of those "collections" - which was disturbing to me personally.
I also found out that some of the DJ-quality CD music players have a "Variable Pitch" control which works similar to the variable speed turntable - making it useful to easily "play along". I purchased one for $150 and am *thrilled* to have it. It is a Gemini CDJ-10 in case you are interested.
I have been on a mission recently scouring the web to locate all the vinyl albums which Billy Mure produced so that I can again own these treasures. I was thinking that if not for a few independent labels re-releasing the Ventures albums on CD, they would have easily drifted into obscurity. However, the CD versions make it easy for new audiences to acquire and appreciate these works. I am elated to have been able to acquire almost 50 of their original albums on CD.
I also recently purchased one of Billy Mure's albums, "Tough Strings" (which I never previously had) and it seems that the Ventures "leveraged" at least seven of the songs on this album. I must tell you that it was an amazing revelation for me to discover that Billy Mure's work may have been directly responsible for the success of the Ventures. (FYI: Billy Mure is still alive and kicking - playing guitar in Parke Frankenfield's big band down in Florida. A search on Yahoo will find Parke's web page.) [I recently found out that Parke passed away, so the band has been disbanded]
In doing some research, I have discovered - regretably - that none of the record labels which sponsored Billy Mure's albums have released any CDs of his vinyl records. I was hoping more people would be interested enough to get some of his LPs (frequently available on ebay) to get support to have someone facilitate the release of four of his albums on CD (I'd like to see the "Supersonic Guitars 1 & 2", "Fireworks", and "Tough Strings" albums - four of his absolute best work). I think it would be instructive for other up-and-coming guitarists to have easy access to CD versions of these albums so that they could experience the joy of hearing his work, as well as the major challenge of trying to follow along.
Billy Mure is a guitarist that is up there (and maybe a tad taller) with Les Paul, Chet Atkins (sincere regrets), Nokie Edwards, James Burton and several others.
I finally got some free time recently and focused on learning how to use a 5-string banjo. What a hoot. The Bluegrass tuning for the banjo is much different than a 6-string guitar. Here it is:
(string) 5 4 3 2 1
(low) D G B D (high string)
| | | |
| | | |
| | | |
| | | |
(drone) G | | | |
| | | | |
| | | | |
The "drone" string is tuned one octave higher than the "G" (string 3). Picking this beast is a different experience. There are several videos on eBay if you're interested in learning more.
Note: There is also a standard tuning for a banjo. The only difference is that the 4th string is an open "C" instead of an open "D". I haven't spent any time investigating this tuning yet, so I can't report any information to you about whether this tuning is better.
I have compiled a list of common chords for the banjo. They are grouped according to note family (i.e., C, Cm, C7). There are three to seven positions for each, to give you a starting point to quickly become reasonably proficient. A few other pages in the list contain variations of C, Am, F, and G type progressions, as well as identify the fingering position for alternate chords for the "F" chord in this progression (i.e., Dm, D, D7). Chords which "accommodate" the drone string will see a "O" at the drone string. In some instances the addition of the drone string to a chord results in a 7th (and is noted with a "7" at the drone string). One page is blank for you to copy and fill in your own chords or patterns. Hope you find this useful. It is saved both as a PDF file and as an Excel file (if you want to modify the layout).
Also now have the same thing for the mandolin (which is tuned the same as a violin). It's saved both as a PDF file and as an Excel file (if you want to modify the layout).
Pul-eeze... let me know if you find this useful!
If you are, this will definitely interest you. I have a special report, The Ultimate In Guitar Pickup Tone Control™ just for you. It is a useful reference document that contains a description of how guitar pickups work and identifies several variables that influence the type of signal the pickup will produce. And this information will help you understand how to create that "Dream Guitar" you always wanted.
This report also contains an easy-to-follow construction project which describes a ground-breaking guitar enhancement and shows you how to create your ultimate dream guitar.
One of the modifications in this report will show you how to enhance your 3-pickup guitar to get 35 individual pickup sounds, instead of the normal five sounds you get with the standard 5-way switch (giving you a whopping 700 percent increase in the number of pickup sounds you can generate). I have designated this modification the "TW-35 Model" (Tone Wizard-35 Model).
The other modification described in this report shows you how to enhance a 2-pickup guitar (or bass) to get 6 individual pickup sounds, instead of the normal three sounds you can get with the standard 3-way switch. This gives you a hefty 100 percent increase in the number of pickup sounds you can get. I have designated this modification the "TW-6 Model".
Each of these modifications will give you total and maximum control of your guitar sound because you can easily select and use all the possible combinations of the following pickup connections:
Your 2-pickup guitar will have more pickup tones than a 3-pickup "strat". The "TW-35 Model" is the "ultimate guitar" that will let you reproduce the sound of virtually every electric guitar ever made.
| This Patented Pickup Switching Method is completely passive so there are no batteries or expensive electronics to fail while recording or performing. If you already bring several guitars with you because each has its own unique sound, why not create one guitar that can sound like them all? |
The design methodology in this report also uses insulated computer connectors (DB-9 pins) to make it easy to swap pickups without the need for a soldering iron.
In fact, (and you will learn more about this in the report) by replacing any pickup on a 3-pickup guitar with another pickup with either a different impedance or magnet type will result in a different "palette" of 35 individual pickup sounds. The value of this vastly improved "modular" system is that you can obtain multiple "palettes" of 35 individual pickup sounds by just replacing one pickup for another one with different characteristics (and no soldering is needed to replace a pickup).
The bottom line: The "Ultimate" Customizable Guitar with Complete and Total Pickup Control!
You now have a way to stop lugging around multiple guitars because each gives you its own "special" tone. You can enhance one guitar that will sound like all of them !!
This project is described in a format that is easy to follow. If you can use a drill, soldering iron, a hacksaw and a file, then you to can create a guitar with such a wide spectrum of tones that every guitarist in the world will drool over with envy!
And if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, your local music store can recommend a luthier-type person who can do it for you.
The top one is my original prototype used for filing my patent. The lower (blue) one is a modification recently done by a customer. Here is what the customer had to say:
It appears the Inventor is the first person to be granted a Patent on all the different mathematically possible permutations to switch 3 pickup electric guitars as far wiring them in series, parallel, in phase, out of phase. A 3-pickup guitar can now have 35 switchable pickup tone possibilities.
The picture of the blue guitar is owned by me and I just finished installing the prototype switching system this weekend. I easily installed it myself and I must say after playing it for two days now, it is incredible. There are 35 switching/tone possibilities between all the on/off combinations of series, parallel, in phase, out of phase. Also, it was very inexpensive to purchase the switches at my local Radio Shack and install myself without any additional routing of wood in my beloved guitar. Also since there is no battery or circuit board, just standard off the shelf switches, it is simple and will not break. This tells me Fender could easily integrate this system in to the existing lines with little to no additional cost or modifications to body styles, routing, etc.
I know a major resistance point for Fender to adopt this system is that it already has the S1 switching system and I agree that it is excellent, but I do recall that I personally never purchased an S1 guitar because although it did have attractive tonal variety and added humbucking qualities, it did not let me switch the neck and bridge on at the same time with the middle pickup off so that I could make a Stratocaster sound like a Telecaster and also play around with the in/out Phase settings. Although the S1 looks to be more elegant from a user standpoint, the logic of the switching in this Patent seems to be far superior and the tone possibilities are much greater. I found the Inventor's system to be very user friendly once I spent five minutes with it in actual use.
Here's a few tips to keep your guitar sounding (and feeling) great.
Use Lemon Pledge spray polish to lube up your guitar neck. Your guitar will be smoother to play and if your guitar has a rosewood fretboard, the polish will prevent the rosewood from drying out.
Use a clean cloth to wipe residue off your strings. Just a little bit of residue (old skin, dirt, etc.) sticking to the strings will dampen their brilliance. Try this out: take a tiny bit of masking/scotch tape (the equivalent of this residue) and apply it to one of your strings and see the difference when you play the string.
This copyright report is entitled The Ultimate In Guitar Pickup Tone Control™. The information for these pickup control configurations: "TW-6 Model" and "TW-35 Model" is based on my U.S. Patent award titled "Method For Switching Electric Guitar Pickups", and is made available to the purchaser for non-commercial personal use only. Any other use is strictly prohibited by U.S. Patent Law, International Patent Law and U.S. Copyright Law.
If you want to manufacture or customize/upgrade and sell guitars using this patented switching method, you need to contact me and obtain a very affordable license.
Perhaps you're a forward-thinking guitar manufacturer who can see the value of licensing this "Method For Switching Electric Guitar Pickups"?
It would be easy for you to instantly gain a tremendous marketing advantage (and take market share away from the big manufacturers) by incorporating this inexpensive but significant switching modification into their 3-pickup and 2-pickup guitars (or bass).
And it's incredibly inexpensive to implement. For a 3-pickup guitar or bass, it uses 6 switches. For a 2-pickup guitar or bass, it uses 3 switches.
Your marketing effort can simply state, "Buy the competitor's 3-pickup guitar/bass and get 5 tones, or buy ours and get 35 tones" to instantly get a strategic sales advantage and increase market share. Or, "Our 2-pickup guitar/bass gives you 100 percent more pickup tones for the same price".
Until smart guitar builders start adding this significant enhancement to their products, you can get your very own copy of this special report that shows you how to build your own "TW-6 Model" and "TW-35 Model".
You can get your personal copy of The Ultimate In Guitar Pickup Tone Control™ for a lot less than even one-tenth the cost of a decent pickup.
